Inverell Art Gallery co-ordinator Jo William said the committee’s concept is for a footpath mosaic, smaller, though similar, to the Meandering Macintyre along Evans Street.
The imagery would invoke the story of contingent of men who left Inverell to make the long journey to the front on January 12, 1916.
“We wanted to tell the story of the Kurrajongs because it is such a unique part of Inverell’s history,” Jo said.
They hope to secure funding through the Anzac Centenary Arts and Culture Fund.
The mosaic format was revisited because it allows access to all ages, those with disabilities, is always on view, and the other mosaic installation and design was very successful.
The plan includes an unveiling to coincide with the Kurrajong March re-enactment in January, 2016.
The mosaic meeting is on Thursday, August 7 at the Inverell Art Gallery at 5.30pm.
