Inverell Boys’ Club coach, Maurie Burke, said all the girls did well, and a number came in first overall.
“Maddison in level one came in second on vault and bars, third on beam and floor to be second overall. It was a good day for Maddison at her first competition,” Burke said.
“Miranda competed in level two and had a good day, taking home third overall, fourth on beam and bars, first on vault and second place on floor. Chloe competed at level two and came second on vault and third on bars, beam and floor and she came and fourth overall. It was a good effort from Chloe at her first comp in level two.
“At level two, Zara had a strong day. She came in second over-all with a win on beam, second on floor and vault and third on bars. Terri competes at level six and she won her level on the day with a personal best overall score.”
Bourke said Lona-May won level seven with a personal best score and Tianne won level four after a close competition.
“She won on beam and bars, took second on vault and came third on beam,” Burke said.
“I think they all went really well and that they’re a pretty talented bunch. I’m very proud of them.”
Burke said the gymnasts only train on average for six hours a week and it would be good if they were able to train more.
“It’s simple; we’re very short of volunteers at the moment and so we can’t keep the gym open long enough,” she said.
“And volunteers don’t have to be coaches or anything.
“There’s lots of different jobs that need to be done.”
