Already planning next Scrapheap Adventure Ride

Updated January 30 2015 - 10:28am, first published 12:00am

LAST year I had the pleasure of joining Team Inverell in the Scrapheap Adventure Ride. The motorbike ride is a charity event that raises money and awareness for Down Syndrome NSW.

Last year we rode to and from Nymboida over four days, mainly on dirt roads. Inverell was proudly represented by 12 riders who raised more than $10,000.

Team Inverell would like to thank the following for supporting us last year: The Inverell Times, Radio 2NZ, Glen Industries, Inverell Motorcycle Sports Club, our support vehicle drivers and my staff for selling raffle tickets.

This September we are riding to a yet to be announced venue, rumoured to be in southern NSW.

We are planning a 10-day ride with at least 20 riders.

We welcome anyone interested in riding with us, donating old bikes to us or helping with our fundraising.

If interested in joining a well-organised team that is helping many families in NSW then please contact me at my pharmacy, Campbell and Freebairn Chemists, or contact Col Meacham on 0458 255 557, or follow us on Facebook on our page Team Inverell Scrapheap Adventure Ride.

Our next meeting is Tuesday, February 3, starting at 6pm at the Oxford Hotel.

Thank you Inverell and district, you are very generous.
