Club president Pete Davidson said he was very pleased with the way the event went.
“We had three or four fewer lots than last year, and we actually made a little bit more money,” Davidson said.
“The match days were well sought after and there was strong competition on the front of the jerseys and the player’s shorts.
“We were very happy with the night.”
Davidson said the night saw the club’s seven-a-side competition kick off for the second year.
“This year we’ve got an eight team competition with a pretty good cross section of teams from across the area,” he said.
“Three local businesses have put teams in and the River Rats have returned this year to try and have a crack at the title. They just got edged out last year.”
Davidson said there was quite a bit of skill on show and the Highlanders were one of two teams to have won their two matches, but had a few tough games in front of them.
“If any team gets through this competition undefeated it will be doing pretty well,” he said.
Seven-a-side will be held from 6pm at Rugby Park each Friday night for the next two weeks. Davidson said the Schools Competition will also begin next week from 5pm at Rugby Park.
