THE charity cricket match for John Krauss and his family was a very emotional and also competitive event. A selection of local A and B grade cricketers faced off at Varley Oval last Sunday and the fundraiser event was for the young man who is battling leukaemia and will be in hospital at Newcastle for months.

There were two 20/20 matches. In the first, A grade batted and totalled 10/195, with B grade to follow and scoring 10/115.
John Binnie top scored in the A grade with 58 and Lachlan Binnie was close behind on 48. B grade was topped by Jakob Haynes who was 35 not out and Raymond Connors scored a healthy 24.
Organising committee member Carolyn McMullen said in excess of $4000 was raised during the match, auctions and games.
Lachlan Binnie whacked a crictke ball the furthest and won the signed cricket ball by Josh Hazelwood and Josh Lalor.
John and his wife Sophie and their family returned to Inverell for the event.
“They were just so grateful for all the support. There were over 120 individuals, businesses and organisations supported the event,” McMullen said.
McMullen wanted to sincerely thank all the individuals, businesses, and families that donated to help ease the pressure on the Krauss family at this very difficult time.
