What a magical time of year and welcoming visit we had - Inverell is a truly wonderful country town.
We experienced a wonderful shopping corner of second hand books, cafes - where an anonymous gentleman of humble gifts gave us a wonderful home grown squash - along with many others in the store at the time. A big thank you to him. Local gems and jewellery - beautifully presented stores, we enjoyed them all.
Had a day trip to Goonoowigall which was almost a success - great autumn weather however one of our party sustained an injury during the day - a big thank you to Darryl - who assisted in helping us and was our hero of the day.
Having lived in Inverell over 20 years ago - I only wish I could say the health system was as good as it was then.
What a sad and sorry state of affairs the country health system is.
Our visits are often now to people aging - and to hear how they have to travel to Armidale or Tamworth for doctor and/or specialist visits on an ever increasing basis is disturbing.
People are waiting a month for a visiting doctor only to be phoned the night before to be told they have to wait another month.
There is always talk about improving the system - only I hope that action can replace the promises. Inverell has a lot to offer - so long as you’re not in need of medical attention.
