Inverell High sports organiser Denise Bryant said the young women were very good netballers.
“Sensational on the court, great teamwork, great on-on-one defence and fast agile attack. They’re very good in the positions they play and very good in terms of that teamwork on the court,” Bryant said.
“It’s absolutely an achievement for the school to have these girls selected in the team. We have had, I think, had four girls make it before on one occasion in the past 15 years.”
Bryant said to have that happen again with two year 12 and two year 11 girls was really good for Inverell high netball.
Ashlee Monkton and Sarah Lennon were selected for their shooting, and both said they were looking forward to the trip south.
“It’s going to be really good,” Lennon said.
“I’m looking forward to playing and meeting new girls.”
Maddy Kennedy was another player selected for the team and she plays defence.
“I think the best part of the trip away will be the bonding as a team,” Kennedy said.
“If you don’t bond then you won’t work well as a team and you won’t perform as well as you could.”
Chelsea Hindmarsh is also on the team and said she was looking forward to travelling away and meeting new friends. She said the social aspect of the sport was important to her.
“If you go away and you don’t enjoy who you are around, then you don’t enjoy playing the sport,” Hindmarsh said.
“It’s good to go with a good group of girls, you have more fun.”
All agreed they thought they would gain some valuable experience at the carnival.
