Hunter New England Health Services (HNEHS) manager of Performance Support, Jennifer Jennings, said community consultation would be vital to the final structure of the plan, so would be extensive.
“Consultation will continue for several months and will involve workshops, one-on-one interviews, meetings and email feedback,” Ms Jennings said.
“There are a number stakeholders interested in this process so we have dedicated a longer consultation period than normal, this will allow us to speak to as many groups as possible.”
HNEHS planner, Louise Evans, was appointed to complete the plan and was welcomed by Mr Marshall, who said he was very excited to see someone with Ms Evans’ experience and background selected for the task.
“I’m looking forward to working with the community and Louise in the development of the Clinical Services Plan, which is a key part of the final design, and what expanded and new services and infrastructure the redevelopment will deliver to the community,” Mr Marshall said.
Ms Evans met with key stakeholders, staff members, Mr Marshall, Inverell Health Services manager, Hamish Yeates, and some external providers last Monday.
“Louise has already commenced discussions with hospital staff and has meetings planed with local doctors and community stakeholders early next month,” Mr Marshall said.
Mr Marshall said during the development of the plan, consultation would occur with hospital staff, local clinicians, Inverell health service providers, Inverell Shire Council, health stakeholders and the community.
“Everyone will be given a chance to have their say to ensure the plan captures the health needs of the community now and well into the future,” Mr Marshall said.
