In addition, it will help keep our most senior and treasured residents as comfortable, healthy and independent as can be.
The McLean Care Auxiliary is hosting the event at the Inverell East Bowling Club to raise funds for McLean.
“It’s not meant to be serious; it’s a fun night to have a giggle and a laugh and try to answer a few questions,” auxiliary member Lyn Kachel said.
The night’s compère, Greg Kachel, will deliver questions on Inverell history, films, celebrities and common knowledge so the night is more fun than perplexing.
“You don’t need an encyclopaedia there to solve the questions,” Lyn chuckled.
There will be variety with the occasional skit, song or game to keep the night fresh.
The auxiliary hold annual events such as the trivia night and fashion parade to keep a steady stream towards the replacement, upgrade of existing, or purchase of specialist equipment.
“That changes all the time, depending what their needs are, new innovations in products for the aged,” Lyn said.
“We recently donated two princess waterbeds just a couple of months ago, that was our big fundraiser.”
Money also helps keep the anticipated weekly auxiliary trolley rolling for residents.
“Which is a trolley that we go around, with little goodies or anything they like to have, their special biscuits and lollies,” Lyn said.
She said the trolley allows residents to have the freedom to shop and spend on the items they choose.
“Some of them don’t get downtown shopping at all and see things, and so the trolley comes around and it’s a bit of an interest for them to actually shop,” she said.
The McLean Care Auxiliary Trivia Night is at 6.30pm for a 7pm start downstairs at the Inverell East Bowling Club.
It is a BYO nibbles night, but the bar and bistro will be open upstairs for the purchase of hot food and drinks.
Tickets are $10 per person at the Inverell Tourism Centre and on the night.
Tables of eight are welcome to book, by Lyn said they always can fit in couples, singles or smaller groups who want to take part.
