In A grade, Campbell and Freebairn were off with a bye, but Staggy Creek (S&C) met the Royal Rats at McCosker before the storm hit.
Staggy Creek came to 6/142 with a healthy dose of 65 runs from Matt Sparke and declared.
The Rats were just able to eke out 3/17 before the match was drawn and abandoned to bad weather, like most other outdoor sporting events in Inverell that afternoon
RSM met Square and Compass (S&C) at Varley Oval, but by 3pm, it would have taken more than a prayer to the gods of cricket to keep the rain at bay.
S&C won the toss and barely got started with only 1/9 when the match was declared drawn, and everybody packed up their bats and went home.
B grade fared exactly the same with RSM against Invincibles at Brooks.
It would have been an interesting match with Invincibles’ Tim Torgau (119) and Jason Muhs on a ton, both still at the crease, but they abandoned the field with 1/284 when the match was called a draw and the rain came down.
Tingha met Staggy Creek at Staggy Creek and got their hosts all out for 135 which seemed a manageable task for the current ladder leaders. It was not long before the weather spoilt their chances, and Tingha managed to log 2/22 before the match was declared a draw and abandoned.
This weekend looks to good cricket weather, and while S&C can hit Copeton for a day at the lake, Royal Rats will meet RSM at McCosker, and Campbell and Freebairn (C&F) will meet Staggy Creek at Varley.
B grade matches are Tingha hosting Invincibles and RSM playing Staggy Creek at Brooks.
The current top batsmen are Tom Scoble for S&C with 215 runs and a 71.67 average in A grade and Invincibles Tim Togau with 219 runs and 54.75 average in B grade.
Top bowlers are C&F’s Matt Reynolds with a best innings of 6/23 and 5.67 average in A grade and Greg Livermore Jr for Tingha with a BBI of 4/30 and 9.08 average in B grade.
