“It did didn’t go a s long as we thought it would, because we didn’t bat long enough,” Higgins said with a chuckle.
The Mather side batted first and managed to knock up 75 runs in the first innings.
“They batted pretty well and made 130 odd in their innings, so they had a 50 run lead going into the second innings,” Higgins said.
“We made 85 in the second innings. They needed to get 36 runs to win the test match, which they did for only two wickets down.”
Higgins said Binney did manage to get a really good side together.
“It would be nice to be able to keep that side for the representative side. It was a pretty handy side.” Binney said.
“We had pretty much the pick of the Inverell squad, but Eric actually picked his side first and then helped me to pick my side.”
With the test finishing early on Friday, the two sides played a Twenty20 on Saturday.
It was an honour to play in memory of the Kurrajongs,” Binney said.
