WHILE announcing an additional round of state government grants to support the revitalisation of Aboriginal languages, Member for Northern Tablelands Adam Marshall said the additional funding presented an excellent opportunity for local organisations to apply for one-off funding up to $30,000 to deliver language projects within communities.
“Strong connections to language and culture are vitally important to the broader context of healing and strengthening cultural identity for Aboriginal people across the state,” Mr Marshall said.
“I have seen a number of language programs run quite successfully in our region in recent years and am urging groups to lodge an application for funding to continue this good work.”
The ‘Our Languages, Our Way’ Community Language Grants applications will close on Friday, May 6.
