Growing up all over, Chris lived everywhere from Canberra to Christmas Island before settling in Warialda as an English History teacher.
He met his wife, Lisa, in high school, and said he felt very lucky to have met her so young.
“(She’s) very supportive of every hairbrained scheme I seem to come up with.
“I’ve got two lovely children -- couldn’t ask for more, really,” he said. When teaching options began to dry up in Warialda, Chris began studying law in the hope of beefing up his resume with legal studies.
“The more subjects you have to your name, the better chances you have of getting a job,” he said.
It worked, and Chris found positions at Macintyre High and the Armidale School respectively.

It wasn’t until a health scare for 22 month old Alex that Chris began considering the possibilities of law.
“In 2011, my wife was expecting our second child, and shortly after she was born, my son was diagnosed with type one diabetes.
“So I couldn’t remain at Armidale,” he said.
“I have distinct memories of reading my son contract law textbooks during the night while I was feeding him to try and keep him calm.”
Chris began volunteering at Lyon Legal Services in 2013, and said he was grateful to them for giving him the chance.
He now hopes that with the opening of C.Woolcott Law on Sweaney Street, his understanding of youth will give him a leg up.
