“It’s amazing the energy this week. As soon as the costumes went on yesterday, the energy lifted,” producer and director Roberta Worsley said.
“The costuming elements and the hair and makeup elements that came together today really did add a gloss to what was already a promising production.”
Around 1200 students from Bingara, Ashford, Warialda and Inverell will see the show before opening night on Thursday, giving the cast and crew a final test run to work out the kinks.
“We’re really grateful for the community supporting us with bringing their schools along,” Roberta said.
“They are very important and pivotal in polishing up what’s going to be a fantastic opening night.”
With a massive cast and huge team of students, teachers and parents backing them up, Roberta said the production was a collaborative effort, with a positive attitude from everyone involved.
“That lets all our creativity flow, and just means it lets us bring the best out in the kids in the end,” she said.

Lighting and sound is a big budget item for this year’s show, and teachers Glen Partridge and Andrew Kerr have worked tirelessly on the set. Set director Andrew Thomas even dug up a car bonnet and grill to give a realistic touch. Music teacher Jenny Craven’s perfectionist streak is sure to show in the final performance.
Community performances are on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, 7.30pm at the Town Hall. Tickets are available from the Tourism Centre for $15 each, and $50 for a family of four. Supper will be provided.
