The Inverell Public School student has already qualified for state in touch and netball on May 27, and June 3 respectively.
While she has always competed at a high level, this year is the first she’s made state.
“Last year for athletics, in long jump, I missed out by one centimetre, coming fourth, and in discus last year in athletics also, there was two centimetres!”
As the shadow reserve for the six-person 2015 state cross country team, she’s pretty confident about her chances.
“I came eighth last year, so fingers crossed!”
Partridge was thrilled to finally see her hard work pay off when she got to the state level in touch.
“It was a pretty hard competition. I had to work extra hard to get on that team, and I was so proud afterwards,” she said.
Netball was a challenge as well, but Partridge rose to it.
She expects the next level to be even harder, but has a secret training weapon at home with her enthusiastic parents.
“Dad loves his touch and mum loves her netball, so I just train with them,” she said.
Partridge adores every sport she gets her hands on and said she enjoys being outside and getting active. Team sports are her favourite.
“We get to work together, and I just find it really fun because you just get to play with your friends,” she said.
While she is always proud to perform well, Partridge doesn’t seek out the glory, and generally prefers to defend.
“It can get a little tricky sometimes but I still give it a crack, and sometimes I don’t feel like defending, but I just have to do it.”
