ELECTIONS for the Inverell Shire Council have been scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 10, and a briefing session for everyone who intends to nominate as a candidate is set down to be held from 5.30pm-8.30pm on Wednesday, July 13.

Council general manager Paul Henry said there are some important dates to remember in the lead-up to the elections.
Nominations will open and the electoral rolls will close at 6pm on Monday, August 1, and nominations will close at noon on Wednesday August 10.
Pre-poll voting will open on Monday, August 29.
Registration of electoral material will close at 5pm on Friday September 2.
Postal vote applications close and declared institution voting will commence at 5pm on Monday September 5, and close at 6pm on Friday, September 9 when pre-poll voting also closes. Election day will be from 8am-6pm on Saturday, September 10, and the return of postal votes closes two days later at 6pm on Monday September 12.
