Shortly after 11pm on Thursday, a home in Hederson St and another in Chester St, Inverell, were broken into while the occupants were sleeping.
Police were alerted and searched the area. A short time later a 14-year-old Tingha boy and a 17-year-old Inverell boy were found hiding in a shed in the yard of a Granville St property.
Police allege they were found with goods from the break-ins.
Both have now been charged with aggravated break, enter and steal and refused bail to appear in Inverell Children’s Court.
The 17-year-old was also charged with drug possession after allegedly being found with cannabis upon arrest.
