Coming from Inverell, Delungra, Bingara and Warialda, the locally run Jin Ryu Kan Martial Arts took a team of 30 along, and chief instructor Nick King was thrilled with the result.
“The majority of our students either placed first, second or third in their divisions, which was really fantastic,” he said.
“The competition was tough. There was a lot of competitors from all over the area. From Tamworth as well as Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Coonabarabran, Dubbo and Sydney.” Nick was pleased to see students ranging from five to 40 come from remote areas to take part.
Junior Sam Dillon was a standout, with two first places and an ippon, which indicates a perfect knockout. Nick said Delungra’s Troy Charters also performed “exceptionally” in his divisions.
