Around 70 children made the most of their school holidays this week, brushing up on their tennis skills in a two-day camp.

Although most were local, some made the trip from Tenterfield, Glen Innes and even Brisbane to take part.
The young sports stars made the most of the cloud cover on Tuesday and Wednesday, and spent most of the camp on the courts with coaches Peter Cole and Daniel Helsdingen.
“They’re having a great time,” Peter said. He said the weather was perfect for tennis, and was impressed with the children’s skill level.
“At least half of these guys I have regular meetings with right through the term, and you can just see the progression really, really quickly.”
Daniel agreed and said the younger camp-goers were enthusiastic and absorbed the skills quickly. He taught forehands, backhands, volleys and serving.
“Everyone in the red stage has been hitting the ball really well today,” he said.
