“They won’t stop construction and wait until the next July first and then start again. Construction drives the funding, the money will be delivered as required. When the call for tenders goes out, it will be for the full $30 million project,” Mr Marshall said.
Funding will provide for a range of new facilities at the Hospital including an emergency department, an inpatient unit, two operating theatres and a larger renal dialysis unit.
The upgrade will attract specialist doctors to the town and mean significantly less travel for locals to access a wider range of services, Mr Marshall said.
The MP acknowledged the long term role played by community members in securing the funding.
“The incredible campaign they spearheaded for over a decade has been a vital part of my case to the state government. Construction can now progress with certainty,” Mr Marshall said.

NSW Health Infrastructure will take over the project from Hunter New England Health “as they do with all projects over $10 million,” Mr Marshall said.
The group is expected on site between late August and early September with community information sessions likely to be held shortly after.
“Inverell has been demanding a new hospital that recognises their enviable position as fastest-growing town in the region,” Mr Marshall said. “I can’t wait to join the community in turning the first sod very soon.
