Numerous events are being prepared and will culminate with a huge gala bash at the Inverell RSM on October 21. At the moment, the organisers (pictured) are calling for ex-members to scan their cupboards for old photographs, trophies and other memorabilia to be set on display on the night of the centenary – and be returned afterwards.
The gala dinner will be an opportunity for members to catch up with past swimming companions, relive memories and check out the pool. To make it a unique stroll down memory lane, the organisers are calling for ex-members to come forth with their interesting stories and anecdotes that can be shared on the night.
The swimming club kicked off in 1917, with the first club night being swam in the Macintyre River. Now, many swims later, the club is thriving.
The club will also be hosting three come and try nights in September. Meanwhile, new swimmers are invited to try out and join the club and make new memories.
Squad training occurs every day at the pool for those who want to catch some of the senior squads from 5.30pm to 7 pm.
