In the A Grade match, the Hawks were defeated by 58 to 16 after being down 24 to 6 at half time.
The side was on the back foot from the start having been depleted in numbers and requiring players from the Presidents Cup side to back up against the competition leaders.
David Koch who was stand-in coach for the day, was extremely proud of the whole-hearted effort shown by the players.
After Hawks junior Nik House was injured early and unable to take any further part in the game, another junior in Jack Hukins was moved from his starting wing position to hooker, and according to Koch, was one of the stand-out players for his side.
Koch wished to make special mention of both Kyle Green and Justin Duncan who played full games in Presidents Cup and then completed a full game in A Grade.
Best and Fairest points went to James Ballinger, Corey Garrett and Alex McCosker, with Ballinger gaining the players’ player award as well.
The Presidents Cup match saw the second placed Hawks defeated by the Warriors by 40 points to 12, after only trailing by 14 to 12 at half time.
The Warriors were by far the better team on the day with the Hawks making too many errors at crucial times, especially in the second half.
The loss will allow Hawks coach Anthony Dunn to focus on the areas that require improvement in the lead-in to the semi finals, where his side will more than likely play the Warriors again.
Best and Fairest points were awarded to Anthony Dunn, Kyle Binge and Jack McMahon. Players’ Player was Arnold Duncan.
The Hawks League Tag side suffered a similar fate to the senior sides when they were defeated by 22 points to 4 after trailing 10 to 0 at half time.
With no reserves to assist with player rotation, coach Simon Green was very impressed with his girls commitment on the day.
Milly Koch was the team’s sole try scorer and Players’ Player, whilst best and fairest points went to Chokita Brown, Yvette Nelson and Emmaline Watters.
The Inverell RSM Hawks next match is on Saturday against the Warialda Wombats at Varley Oval, and it’s a big occasion.
Old Boys will be travelling from far afield to take part in the club’s annual reunion. It’s a great chance for old mates, players and supporters to reconnect and celebrate the history and achievements of the club.
The first match of the day will kick off at 11am.
