With the event set to return next year, the Toughen Up committee have extended the application period for non-profit organisations keen to receive funding. Expressions of interest, which are available on the Toughen Up Challenge Facebook page will be accepted until 5pm on Monday, August 7.
The aim of the challenge is to raise funds for non-profit organisations and charities located in Inverell to support the community as a whole.
This year the money went towards the local Volunteer Rescue Association, who were able to replace a rescue winch and look towards replacing Rescue 1, an ex Coca Cola truck that has seen better days.
The Rotary Club of Inverell East were also awarded funds which will be used to purchase a Sandcruiser Wheelchair. The wheelchair is a heavy duty, go anywhere piece of equipment which will allow users to gain access to areas that a normal wheelchair isn't able to traverse. The chair will be available to the local community, for example to support people to access the pool.
Successful applicants will receive the funds within two months of the 2018 event.
All Expressions of Interest will be considered by the Toughen Up Committee and successful applicants advised this month. All decisions made are final and no correspondence will be entered into regarding decisions made.
