Glen Innes Pony Club are set to get the region’s competitive season when they host the first interclub and the Zone 13 campdraft this weekend.

The local club co-host with Inverell in a double header this weekend.

Chief instructor Julie Donnelly said the club had worked hard to have everything lined up for the action-packed weekend.

“We have the judges and the pencillors organised,” she said.

“We are going to have a working bee on Friday and we have got the cattle sorted so the draft will go ahead for sure so that's good.

“We are going to run the two jump rounds on Saturday afternoon. Our jump will run in our normal program and then we are going to run the Inverell jump so while the jumps are set up and the judges are there we will run that as well.”

The Zone campdraft will commence at 4.30pm and Donnelly said there were plenty of entries.

“We've got 39 entries and we'll have two runs each so close to 80 runs,” she said.

“It is [good] for Pony Club because there's always other drafts going on.”

The interclubs will have ring events, showjumping and sporting.

With two days in-a-row of competition, high numbers are expected and the club are running events on the Saturday evening for campers.

“We are more excited that we can have a back-to-back so everyone can come for the one weekend and hopefully it will work so we can continue that,” Donnelly said.
