There was a mixed quality penning of lambs, having an even balance of medium and heavy lambs but included limited pens of young lambs. All regular buyers were in attendance and operating. Demand for all classes trended firm on the market a fortnight ago, although extra heavy lambs did sell to an easier trend.
Young lambs sold to slightly cheaper trends with quality being a factor. These were $3 to $4/head easier. Few lambs were suitable for the restockers. Trade lambs sold generally to a firm trend, as did heavy lambs. Extra heavy lambs, however, sold to cheaper trends due to weight and quality. Hoggets sold to firm trends, as did heavy weight ewes.
Wethers sold to trends of up to $15/head easier with weight being a factor. There were some bigger lines of wethers.
Tamworth
A reduced supply of lambs with the quality very mixed on November 13. The lamb offering was made up of even numbers of new season and old lambs. There was a fair supply of both well finished trade and heavy weight lambs, alongside a reasonable penning of merino lambs.
There was little change in the market for well-finished trade and heavy-weight young crossbred lambs. Restockers were active on good quality light-weight second cross lambs with the market trend firm. Well-finished trade and heavy weight old lambs sold to a dearer trend, mostly due to the reduced supply.
Well-finished merino lambs sold to a dearer trend, up to $5/head. The limited supply of grown sheep sold on a firm to slightly dearer market trend, with some Merino sheep prices improving with skin prices.
