The competition has been known as the Inverell Art Society Competitive Exhibition for several years.
“It was just a little long, and everybody would shorten it to October Exhibition, but now that it’s held in September, that didn’t really fit either,” Inverell Art Gallery co-ordinator Jo Williams said.
This year, the expansive show has been renamed the Inverell Art Prize 2015.
“So we’ve changed the name, but the format and everything is still the same,” Jo said.
Jo said the special feature section for 2015 is ‘Let There be Light’.
The art judge this year is Armidale painter James White. There are also judges for the mosaic, textiles and photography.
Artists will vie for the total prize value of $4700.
Entry forms are now available for artists working in genres from painting, photography, sculpture, drawing, folk art and more.
Forms are available at the gallery, 5 Evans Street, or on the web site, www.inverellartgallery.com.au.
Entry forms are due in by 4pm Friday, August 28 and entries are due on Friday, September 4 at 4pm.
