Organiser Mel Robinson said all the proceeds from the event would go towards the students of Gilgai Public School.
“We don’t get a lot of support from the department, being a tiny bush school, so we need to make our money in order to get our kids cracking on,” Mel said.
Five hundred people attended last year’s event and, though the numbers took organisers by surprise, about $1400 was raised for the school from the event.
Those funds went to repairing all the school’s lunch tables.
“They were in desperate need of repair,” Mel said.
“They were covered in lead paint.
“This year we would like to install new doors on our school shed and upgrade our kitchen facilities.”
Mel said organisers wanted to invite everyone from Inverell out to support the school.
“It’ll be bigger and better than last year.
“We’ve got our mega raffle again, more games and more stalls,” Mel said.
“We’ll have a massive jumping castle, a beautiful craft stall, plant stalls, face painting a barbecue and games.”
“We’ll have a huge variety for the kids, big kids and little kids.
“We’re trying to specialise our games this year so everyone can get in and have a go.”
