The disability service provider, which focuses on accommodation services, waited eight months to move into the space.
“We were really happy to wait,” marketing and social media coordinator Janine Peters said.
Although many asked why they would wait so long, former branch manager Peter Collins had fallen in love with the space and the story of the building risen from the ashes.
“He really felt like once the shops got going it was going to revitalise that part of town,” Janine said.
“He was amazed at how much of the original features was still there. They really tried to keep the original features, woodwork and brickwork.”
Originally tucked away on Oswald Street, Janine said the service wanted a more central location, allowing clients to visit Centrelink and other providers on their way to Kirinari, particularly as the National Disability Insurance Scheme begins to roll out.
With a full picture window of black and white photos, she was confident locals would notice their new location.
“I think (it) is pretty eye catching when people drive past,” she said.
