Mayor Paul Harmon was reminded of his past at this month’s council meeting when Cr Harold Castledine announced it was his last meeting for the current council. Cr Harmon said the two of them were elected to office in the same year, 2004.

“It certainly doesn’t seem that long ago and a lot of water has gone under the bridge. I certainly thank you for the contribution you’ve made to this and previous councils,” Cr Harmon said.
Speaking at the end of the meeting, Cr Castledine said he had to leave town for a short time to have a health issue attended to.
“Once that’s done they’ve told me I’ll be fit for the future,” he quipped.
Cr Castledine said he wanted to especially thank council’s field staff.
“My qualifications, well, you’d be too embarrassed to show them to the staff today,” he said.
“These days the workers are out here with just so many qualifications, doing survey work and all that, and it is just such a credit to them.”
