THE Tingha Tigers Rugby League Club has another 17,996 reasons to continue its century-long existence, after it won funding to rebuild the ageing canteen on the club’s home ground.

Northern Tablelands MP Adam Marshall was in Tingha recently to announce a $17,996 grant from the state government and said the funding would help the Tingha Tigers better cater for the large crowds that attend hometown games.
“The Tingha club has a great history and an important future,” Mr Marshall said.
“Sports like football are essential to fuel community pride and to provide activity for the town’s young people.
“Upgrading the canteen, which is currently a fire trap, signals that this little community is consolidating its long and fruitful association with rugby league.”
Tingha Tigers club President Greg Fenton welcomed the grant. “Maintaining infrastructure in a club that has limited access to funds is a real challenge, and the government’s support is definitely welcome,” Mr Fenton said.
“The club approached Adam a while ago looking for some help from the government, so we were really excited when we got the good news.”
Mr Marshall said support for local groups and small clubs such like the Tigers was a key priority for him and he congratulated all who take part in their support..
“Country sporting clubs are there for whole communities, young and old, and promote healthy lifestyles and a team approach,” he said.
