“They don’t have to be a member to display their quilts,” Sisters in Stitches sewer Leigh Rex said adding that it is “just” an exhibition of work with no judging contest.
The event will be held on Friday and Saturday, October 20-21 at the Baptist Church Hall and will also host a raffle with $2 ticket-holders going into the draw for one of the quilters’ handmade creations.
Ms Rex said Sisters in Stitches is a local group which welcomes new members to its meetings that alternate between a focus on quilting activities and a diverse range of crafts.
The group’s pamphlet explains: “We all meet together for ‘me time’, shared morning tea, lots of laughs, sharing craft ideas and just time out to do our own projects.”
Ms Rex said the craft people share ideas and skills across whatever creative activities they are interested in doing including knitting and crocheting.
That group has about 15 members while the quilting group has about eight.
“The craft group meets Thursday mornings from 9.30 to 12,” she said.
The quilting group meets on the first, third and fifth (when applicable) Monday of the month from 9.30am to 3pm.
All meetings are held at the Inverell Baptist Church on Wade Street.
