The local 2NZ radio presenter allowed Sonya Lange from the Inverell Library and another friend, Ada Keegan, to colour his hair and beard as well as add a little glitter in preparation for the big shave.
“They said they’d donate $50 each if I let them do what they’ve done to my beard and head with the rainbow,” he said.
On Wednesday, Steph Symes from Shear Elegance popped down to the station, clippers in hand.
The Inverell Times team were there to live stream the big event, and allow Monte to share why he felt so passionately about the cause.
Monte was overwhelmed to read personal thank you messages on the live stream, from people who have experienced or are experiencing the effects of Leukemia.
Not the first time he has partaken in the shave, Monte set his goal to $700 and so far he has raised $570.
In its 20th year, the Leukemia Foundation hope to raise $16 millon, as of Monday they hit $8 million.
Wednesday was the first official day of the Worlds Greatest Shave.
People from around the region still have another week to donate to Monte’s cause, by heading to his page http://my.leukaemiafoundation.org.au/jamesirvine
Feeling a little bit lighter, and cooler, Monte was happy with his new do!
