Marli Gobbert and Chris Whitton starred for the home side booting five goals each in the Saints 20.26.146 to 2.2.14 win over the Swans.
The home side dominated play and should have won by a greater margin with the Saints registering 10 behinds in the first quarter before Hayden Chappel kicked accurately late in the term to register the team's first goal of the match.
Inverell never allowed the Swans to get into the game with Ben Ellis, Lachie White and Captain Sam Kimmince dominating the backline while Jake Cannon, Damon Harrison and Luke Selig ran rampant in the midfield.
Also encouraging was the efforts of debutants Jade McLlwain and Joel Edwards who played their roles well.
Saints Coach Justin Pay praised his team's effort and singled out Anthony Pages for his effort in the ruck.
Pages, who hadn't played in the ruck previously, was asked to play the role and was effective during the game.
The only sour note of the win was the report of Andrew Schneider. He was reported for striking during the third term.
Earlier in the day, reigning Juniors premiers Inverell Saints made light work of the Tamworth Roosters by 69 points. Cam Spark-Gaukroger and Cody McGillvery lead the goal scoring for the home side with four goals each as the Saints powered away to an 18.12-120 to 8.3-51. The Saints will now prepare for their twilight clash against the Moree Suns at Varley Oval this Saturday.
There will be three grades of footy with the U17s, Womens and Seniors grades in action. The Saints Women's side makes it's first appearance for the year as the reigning AFL North West Women's premiers.
In other round one games, the Moree Suns upset last years grand finalists the Tamworth Kangaroos 16 goals 19 behinds 115 to 7.9.51.
While, the New England Nomads gained revenge over reigning premier Gunnedah Bulldogs to win 18.16.124 to 4.12.36.
