A huge week of NAIDOC festivities in the Gunnedah region concluded on Sunday with a well attended march down the main street followed by a massive Family Fun Day at Wolseley Park.

This year’s celebrations were even bigger than usual following the Winanga-li Aboriginal Child and Family Centre receiving a funding grant for the week from the NSW government.
The week kicked off with a flag raising ceremony on Monday, and has included an exhibition and awards night through the week.

On Sunday, festivities kicked off with a breakfast at Winanga-li and a smoking ceremony at Porcupine Lookout, before the march down the main street and a flag raising ceremony to kick off the first ever NAIDOC Family Fun Day.
At Wolseley Park, families enjoyed free carnival rides, arts and craft, first responder demonstrations, ceramic animal painting, ball games, a lolly guessing competition, food and drinks, jewellery making and a gallery of Gunnedah women.
