Keen to involve as many businesses as possible, the chamber is already hard at work organising the holiday fun.
The Elfin Crazy theme will remain front and centre, and a prize pool of $5000 sapphire dollars will be up for grabs, to be spent in participating businesses.
Elf spotting will be back, with 30 local stores to hide one of jolly characters in their window and the rescue and recycle Christmas tree competition will spark the town’s creativity.
Inverell will be lit up once again with the business lights competition, which the Chamber said drew several positive comments, and over 7700 views on last year’s video. Locals will have a chance to vote on their favourite displays for the People’s Choice Award.
The Chamber said the Inverell Shire Council’s roundabout Christmas decorations, and the town Christmas tree will compliment the lights.
Vivian and Byron streets will both be closed for the big event on December 14.
Elves will wander around on the festival night, with a prize pool of $1000 for a fancy dress competition in the street. The Best Dressed Elf categories include best under five years, best under 14 years, best group of four or more and the best dressed couple.
New additions to the holiday celebrations will be the shopping promotion Choose Inverell, which launches in late October alongside the Sapphire Festival parade. The chamber promises to produce a comprehensive booklet of every local business.

A description of the store or their promotions will be free to all local businesses, and the chamber plans to print 10,000 copies to be delivered across the district; including Moree, Bingara, Warialda, Glen Innes, Guyra, Ashford and Bundarra.
Businesses are also encouraged to participate in creating a ‘shopping passport’ to advertise their wares.
Discounts and shopping promotions will take over the town from November 15 to December 22 as the chamber hosts a competition for the best Festival of Christmas business promotion. The winner will receive a marketing package valued at over $2000.
