Three NSW Ambulance crews and a Westpac Rescue Helicopter visited the scene on the Gwydir River Road, near Thunderbolts Way.
Reports indicate that 80 per cent of the 29-year-old man’s hair was singed, and he was suffering from vision problems.
NSW Ambulance Service said that the man was conscious and speaking when they responded. The incident occurred at about 7.20pm on Monday night, September 10.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter transported the man overnight from the property to Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital, suffering burns sustained in the explosion.
The patient’s condition is unknown at this time.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter also flew to a motorcycle accident north of Bundarra on Sunday, September 9. The rider came off his bike on Thunderbolts Way, where he was thrown down a ditch into a rock wall and believed to have suffered multiple injuries.
He was treated on scene by ASNSW paramedics and the helicopter critical care medical team.
