On Monday a 4-ball best ball was played and won by Shirley and Ken Bullock of Burrum District Golf Club with 47 points in a countback from locals, Graham Moore and Eric Higgins.
Third place was taken by Shirley and Wayne Porter from Hervey Bay who beat locals, Wendy Alexander and Sandra Williams in a countback with 45 points. Next came Max and Maureen Misso from Redcliff Golf Club.
Nearest the pins were Helen Teys and Mel Olzard for the women and Ken Bullock and Derek Napier for the men.
Some excellent scores were handed in on Tuesday’s Men’s single stableford. Graham Bates from Redland Bay Golf Club was the best of the men with 42 points, closely followed by Kenneth Bullock, 41, and then Graham Moore and Peter Taylor with 40. Six others on 39 points followed.
Best for the ladies was Bronwyn Clegg, Nambour Golf Club, 40 points, Margaret Teh, 38, and then Kay Swadling, Merilyn Olzard, Shirley Bullock and Katheryn Guyer all with 35.
NSW Veterans Golf Association representative, Peter Taylor, will long remember his week at Inverell after bagging his first ‘Hole in One’ in Tuesday’s stableford.
He will gladly give a description of his shot on the 158 metre 6th hole and the skill involved to anyone with time to spare.
No doubt time restrictions will be placed on Peter during his address at today’s presentation.
Tuesday and Thursday are individual stablefords with the overall winner of the week of golf coming from the best total for these two days. Friday’s event is a 4-ball stableford aggregate with a draw for partners.
This will be followed by a luncheon and presentation.
