A good-sized field took part with Paul Stirling and Matt Warrell finishing winners to take out the cup in a countback with Joe Holahan and Glen Cross.
Both pairs finished with scores of plus 11.
Results on the day were close with the next three pairs returning with plus 10.
Placegetters were Ian Jeffery and Dave Schofield, Toby Teece-Tapscott and Luke Bourke, Scott Moylan and Marcus Muggleton, Ross Chilcott and Adam Paton, Steve Kent and Ross Tutt and Steve Glover and John Green.
In the stableford competition played in conjunction with Saturday’s four-ball, Joe Holahan produced an impressive form reversal to go from last the previous Saturday to this week’s winner with 42 points.
Paul Stirling and Todd Cross were next best with 41 points.
A few of the top players returned with impressive 9-hole scores on the day.
Matt McHarg had a two under par 32 off the stick on the top nine while John Coote returned one under par 35 on the bottom nine.
Matt Warrell was another to go well managing to par the bottom.
The nearest the pins were won by Tony Baldwin, Tom Kennedy, Jeremy Budda Deen, Steve Kent and Rusty Brien with Rusty picking up the pro-pin 17th and a birdie with a one metre putt.
This Saturday, December 15, is Hamper Day at the Inverell Golf Club and all are welcome to the club.
It will be a four-ball stableford and will be followed, after play, by the presentation of trophies won during the year.
Sunday will be a medley stableford.
Local players, both men and women, should also keep in mind the upcoming Sutton Insurance Brokers Sapphire Cup to be held January 26 and 27.
This four-ball event has over $16,000 worth of prize money with entries closing January 12.
