So far the team have received 66 large donations from local listeners wanting to help others this festive season.
2NZ presenter James Monte Irvin said the experience has been humbling.
“It’s not just one or two things, people are donating multiple things.
“To see such generosity from our Fight for Farmers drive continue into this, and to know the community is embracing these drives, is incredible,” he said.
Donated toys and books will be wrapped and sorted this weekend before being distributed to local families in need.
The station has teamed with the Rural Financial Counselling Service and the Inverell and Glen Innes Homelessness Support Service to ensure the right people benefit from the drive.
“People realise at this time of year others aren’t so fortunate, and some kids wont have something special to open on Christmas Day,” he said.
On Friday, the Bundarra Lions Club were the latest organisation to make a donation to the drive.
Monte said Bunnings in Inverell was another who’d made a considerable donation.
“It really is a heartwarming feeling to see different people within the community helping in any way they can. There’s been a fair few handmade toys donated too.”
Items included popular children’s books, and toys for boys and girls.
All donations will stay 100 per cent local within the listening area of GemFM/2NZ.
This Saturday, December 15, the team will be situated at the Dust Jacket from 10am wrapping some of the donated toys and books.
“If people want to come and help then please do. We will be wrapping and sorting them into age groups.
“Everyone has been really good understanding why we need new and unwrapped toys for this drive,” he said.
The team are still calling for volunteers to act as drop off points in the villages surrounding Inverell.
