SOUTH Tamworth’s Mark Golledge has held on to win the Central North District Bowls Association (CNDBA) bowler of the year.

With players earning points for every top four placing at all district games, Golledge finished 30 points clear of Tamworth City’s Ian Bannister.
“It was really close, it came down to the last competition day,” Bannister said.
“Mark and I were virtually tied for most of the season and at the last competition day in South Tamworth, Mark came second and I missed a placing.
“In all honesty, Mark thoroughly deserves this award he has been fantastic all year.”

Bannister said this year’s tight finished showcased the quality of the district’s bowlers.
“There really are some terrific and consistent bowlers within our district,” he said.
“For example, North Tamworth’s Graham Pennell was only 10 points behind us even though he missed the last competition day.”
The win will carry extra significance at it will be the last time the CNDBA award’s a bowler of the year before merging with surrounding districts to become one zone.
