The council took to Facebook to share the warning out to local residents who may receive a visit.
Residents are urged to be on the lookout for door-to-door salespeople with an Irish accent.
The ACCC has provided the following advice, stating door-to-door salespeople are not allowed to visit you:
- On Sundays or public holidays.
- Before 9am or after 6pm on weekdays.
- Before 9am or after 5pm on Saturdays.
The salesperson must be identified and a) tell you that you can ask them to leave and b) leave immediately if you ask them to and not return for 30 days.
You can also download a ‘Do Not Knock’ sign to display at your front door - available here.
