The tour was the brainchild of German-born Australian entrepreneur Heinrich Haussler, who together with musician and music producer, Chris Richter, had developed what promised to be an experience of a lifetime.
Each artist a top class performer, with a unique style and breadth of experience across many and varied genres.
These talented musicians showcased artists from around the globe, with the highlight a selection of Australian songs they performed in front of big crowds that couldn’t get enough of it.
So it came as no surprise that thew group was invited back in July and August 2018 for a two-month tour across Germany.
The band this time had Chris Richter, musical director, also playing keyboard, guitar and vocals, Tom Sanderson on bass guitar, Daniel Lowe on drums, Jasmine Richter, Megan Longhurst, both on vocals, all from Inverell and Sarah Lavender of Grafton also on vocals.
The vocalists were replaced halfway through the tour by Emma Dykes at that time from Inverell, Ally McKinley of Maryborough and Allen East on vocals and guitar from Inverell. It again was tour that showcased a variety of performers that absolutely took the German audience by storm.
From venues at castles, to a stage on a lake and a week-long song writers camp in East Germany, to the vine regions of the Mosel performing at wine festivals and wine cellars, to the city festivals of the South West.
The band again was a crowd pleaser and is now invited back to perform in front of large audiences again from the east to the west of Germany.
For the 2019 Tour nine talented musicians under the guidance of Chris Richter will again travel to Germany to perform from July 19 to August 5 in some top destinations right from the east to the west of the country.
Some of the highlights will be the show in Ramstein a small city where over 60000 US soldiers are stationed. It will be the OZ Band Music Night with an Australian themed food and drink.
The Wine Cellars in Beilstein the fairy tale village of the Mosel where they now will have their first big wine festival inspired by the OZ Joeys Band. The wine Festival at Poltersdorf where the Band performed last year. Other events in the South West Region close to the French border will also provide great venues for the band with live radio shows giving more exposure to these artists.
At present the group is 21 strong that is nine musicians and 12 groupies. Five of the nine musicians are from Inverell.
