As preparations begin for the 71st annual Inverell Eisteddfod, the committee were pleased to support the Westpac Rescue Helicopter service with a $500 donation.

"We pick something every year for big donation," publicity officer Linda Pratt said. Previous donations have supported individuals in need and a wide range of local organisations. Ms Pratt said the helicopter service was essential in Inverell.
"It goes over my house, and it comes in quite often," she said.
Young performers are already busy rehearsing for this year's eisteddfod, which runs from June 16-24, with the concert on July 2. Following the success of last year's event, the dance, music, speech and drama eisteddfods will remain combined.
With several new categories added, the 2019 syllabus is now available from local newsagencies, Craze Dancewear and by contacting the Inverell Eisteddfod Society through their Facebook page. Ms Pratt said there will be something for every performer, from preschool up.
"I think it just adds to their life experiences and teaches them how to behave in public. I think it’s a really good thing," she said.
