Jan, who was the president of the support group for many years, is relocating to Manly Vale.
"My heartfelt thanks to the town for giving me 15 happy and fulfilling years as an Inverellian," she said. She admitted that it was painful to depart.
"Leaving Inverell, leaving you is killing me," she said with tears in her eyes.
"I know I'm going into the bosom of my family, and I love them with all my heart; but you have all become so important."
"Has anybody got any whiskey?" she joked.
"We would like to express our sincere appreciation for your valued contribution to the Inverell community during the last 15 years," Lyn O'Brien said to Jan.
"Thank you for the love and support shown to those who have been fortunate enough to have met you. Your willingness to assist in so many organisations has been very evident."
She spoke about Jan's long involvement with the support group and the Inverell Golf Club, as well as her work organising and transporting care packages for bushfire victims, serving Christmas lunch to community members, remaining active in her church and visiting McLean Care residents.
"Leaving is always difficult, but with your drive and determination, I know you'll make a new start surrounded by family and friends. Many new organisations will benefit from your willingness to always be of assistance," Lyn said.
