Hosted by the Inverell Hockey Association at their fields in the sports complex, Greg Doolan from Hockey NSW take the youngsters through basic rules and skills.
"He has some fun hockey games for them to play," committee member Summer Stewart said.
Running from 10am-12 noon, both new and returning players are welcome, and a free sausage sizzle will be available. Another sign up day will run on April 6.
"We are always striving to attract more juniors," Summer said. She said that more players result in a more competitive season.
"The juniors always love playing on the full field in teams. We are hoping to get four or more teams this year."
The junior hockey season will begin after the Easter break.
All information regarding the come and try days and registration will be posted on the Inverell Hockey Association Facebook page. Locals can also find out more by emailing inverellhockey@gmail.com.
All children attending the event are required to wear a mouth guard. The hockey association will have a limited supply of hockey sticks and shin pads.
