From agricultural shows to community hall maintenance, 13 local organisations have been awarded federal government grants.
Aimed at supporting volunteers, the grants provide between $1,000 and $5,000 to organisations and community groups, from $20 million in national funding.
Local recipients include the Ashford Show Society Incorporated ($4688), Bonshaw Memorial Hall Incorporated ($4853), Charlie's Run 4 Kids Limited ($4367.50), Delungra Sports Association Inc ($4960), Gilgai Public Hall and Recreation Reserve Management ($3556), Gum Flat Parents and Citizens Association ($4887.87) Inverell Community Radio Incorporated STA FM ($5000), Inverell Hawks Rugby League Football Club Inc ($5000), Inverell Rugby Club Incorporated ($4000), Inverell Senior Citizens Welfare Association Inc ($5000), Lions Club of Inverell Inc. ($2000), Lions Club of Inverell Macintyre Inc ($2000) and the Tingha Sport & Recreation Bowling Club Inc ($2,385).
