For more than 15 years The Premier Store in Inverell has been running a Jeans for Genes Day competition which has helped raise significant funds to help find treatment for children's genetic diseases.

Kindergarten kids to Inverell's elderly and everyone in between is encouraged to participate in the competition by grabbing a form in store, filling out the details and decorating an old pair of jeans.
A great way to recycle those old jeans that just don't fit anymore by painting, drawing, crafting them in any way, all participants have to do is drop their jeans and the form in store with a $5 entry fee before August 2.
Categories will be judged by Kindy, Primary School, Grade 7-9, Grade 10-12 and Open. Independent judges select a winner factoring in the ability according to age.
Enthusiastic and creative entries are encouraged. An overall winner with receive a $50 store credit and the option to sell their pair of jeans to the store for an additional $50 store voucher.
First prize in each category will take home a backpack with surf wear accessories inside. Runners up will receive surf wear accessories.
Entries will be displayed in the front window of the store. Over the years The Premier Store have built up quite a collection of winning jeans with plans to auction them off in the future to raise further proceeds for the Jeans for Genes charity.
