Coming into Saturday's clash off the back of a 38-point loss to the New England Nomads, the Kangaroos made the Saints work for every goal.
From there, Saints midfielders Hayden Chappel and Lachie White stood up kicking two goals apiece to help the visitors get across the line 10-18-78 to 9-5-59.
Dallas Baldwin, Joshua Desborough-Graham, Marli Gobbert, Tyler Desborough and Nathan Hughes also scored for the Saints.
Joshua Worpel was named the Roos' best in the 19-point loss, while Anthony Pages claimed best-on-ground honours for the Saints.
Other standouts for the Saints included Samuel Kimmince, Jade Mcilwain, Tyler Desborough, Rory Wilson and Hayden Chappel.
Inverell Saints women also took the field over the weekend against Tamworth Kangaroos.
The strong Inverell side absolutely rolled Tamworth 1.1, 2.2, 6.2, 8.3 (51) to 1.0, 1.1, 2.1, 2.2 (14).
Gabrielle Mooney scored three points for the Saints, along with Stephanie Press, Georgia Strang, Tiarne Saunders, Sophie Kastelein and Clare McCosker all scoring one each.
Stephanie Press, Larissa Matheson, Kyla Hamilton, Jaime Howie, Jaimie Pay and Gabrielle Mooney were named standouts on the day.
The men's victory sees the Saints hang on to second place on the AFL North West ladder behind the undefeated Gunnedah Bulldogs.
Meanwhile, the loss sees the Roos tumble out of the top four after the Tamworth Swans defeated the New England Nomads 14-13-97 to 12-13-85.
The Roos will now look ahead to a bye this weekend, while the Saints prepare for a top-of-the-table showdown against the Gunnedah Bulldogs at Varley Oval.
