Meanwhile, a man appeared before Inverell Local Court today charged after shots were allegedly fired during an incident in the village of Pilliga.
About 3pm yesterday, officers with Oxley Police District went to a home after receiving reports a firearm had been discharged during an altercation.
It is alleged two men, aged 44 and 20, were drinking at the home and became involved in a physical altercation after the older one fired several shots in the house.
During the struggle, it is alleged, the younger man was struck to the head and bitten on the hand. Police from Pilliga, Wee Waa and Narrabri went to the scene and established a perimeter around the house.
About 5.40pm, the 44-year-old man allegedly drove from the home. He was intercepted and arrested by police.
They seized a rifle from the vehicle and set up a crime scene at the home.
