National Recycling Week is the annual opportunity for communities to update their knowledge and become recycle right champions. Australians are willing recyclers with 90 per cent of us agreeing that it is the right thing to do.
However, recycling is a constantly evolving industry, which can lead to confusion about what can and can't be recycled.
As part of this year's National Recycling Week, Northern Inland Regional Waste has launched the Recycle Right campaign asking people to focus on two simple things they can do in the home to Recycle Right.
Firstly, ensure to empty or wipe out all containers, containers with food or liquid can't be recycled and, secondly keep recycling loose as plastic bags don't belong in recycling.
The campaign includes a YouTube video with workers from various Materials Recovery Facilities and is available to view now.
There are also opportunities for Inverell residents to visit their local materials recovery facilities to see how recycling is sorted.
More information on how to Recycle Right is available at www.nirw.org.au/recycleright or through local councils.
This campaign has been supported by the NSW EPA Waste Less, Recycle More initiative funded from the waste levy.
